Transformation

We must all be really tired, no one's posting these days. I just thought I'd let you all know what is consuming my life right now. My kitchen. I have wanted white cabinets for the longest time. Years. I knew the day would come when I would paint mine, I just kept waiting for the right time frame, energy, moon position, whatever. Well, none of that happened but I'm painting them anyway. I just jumped in and started and it's really happening. As you know I'm not good at posting photos - yet - I will be, though! So when I'm done being consumed by my kitchen, I will clean up my camera and post some lovely before and after shots of my kitchen transformation. Stay tuned! In the meantime, just go on blogs and start looking for before and after shots of people's white kitchens. You will be amazed! I love looking at what people have done with a little paint. Mine's next!

Checking In

Just thought I'd check in and give a little update since I haven't been posting lately. My shoulder surgery was 2 weeks ago yesterday. Time has gone fast and I am almost completely out of pain, until the physical therapist tortures me, that is. But she is helping me, my motion is coming back slowly but surely. One motion that is still not back though is my "hairdo motion". The motion of lifting your arm to do a ponytail or style your hair is one I took for granted, and now me and my ugly hair don't take it for granted anymore. That motion will be one of the last to get back, so more ugly hair yet to come for awhile.

School started Monday and I am enjoying my quiet house right now. If it was clean I'd even enjoy it more, but for now quiet is good. The kids all like their teachers and classes so far. Colby is a cheerleader at the high school, which took us by surprise but he likes it and it keeps him busy. He also works part time at Discount Tire. He comes home greasy and tired, but has some money in his pocket and is learning new skills. Kason started high school and really likes it. He wants to go out for football, I took him for his required physical yesterday, I told him he's not allowed to get hurt, he just laughed. Miranda is a big 8th grader, hard to believe she'll be a teenager next month and then going to high school next year, she has all honors classes and therefore lots of homework, but sticks with it each night until it's done, which has been late so far. Eli got the exact teachers he hoped he wouldn't get, but has been taking it well so far. He comes home and tells us funny phrases his teachers said and imitates his Spanish teacher's accent, so I guess he's finding the humor in it.

I broke my second windshield in two weeks the other day. The first was in Rob's car, we were on our way home from Utah and I was driving along minding my own business when a grapefruit-sized boulder came from out of nowhere and bounced twice in front of me then hit the windshield, making a large broken splat. Thank goodness the insurance covered a new windshield. Then last week the kids and I were finishing up school shoppping when all of the sudden a rock, which Eli swears fell from the sky because we literally didn't see it coming, hit the windshield and *crack* there we are again. We haven't had broken windshields in years, now 2 in 2 weeks. I hope the insurance pays for this one, and that they don't suspect we're out throwing rocks at our cars for sport or something.

Brady's mission departure slowly ticks closer, for the longest time it seemed way out there, now today we can say he leaves next month, weird. His farewell will be Oct. 16th, and he leaves on the 26th. The big discussion among the other kids is how we'll arrange who in which bedroom since only 2 people will have to share now. And of course Colby can't wait to drive the car Brady's been driving. But I know we'll all miss him, 2 years is a long time!

I am ready to start some Fall decorating, I want to get it up and enjoy it and then get it out of my system so then I can get Christmas decorations up right before Thanksgiving this year. We'll see how that goes.
