Probably doesn't happen to you
Ok, this is a random blog post, but sometimes there's really nothing new and exciting to talk about, so I'll tell you what happened to me last week, it probably never happens to any of you. I had to go to a stake leadership meeting, and before I left I made dinner. I sauteed some sliced onions and made hamburger patties and put the onions over them. I didn't have time to eat, so I just ran upstairs and put a skirt on that went with the shirt I was wearing. I didn't know if any food smell could be detected on my shirt, though, so I sprayed a little body spray on me, took off my shoes and put some sandals on, and off I went. While sitting in the meeting, I could majorly smell onions. And while smelling onions I could smell the body spray which I keep forgetting between uses that I don't like that one very well, and mixed with the onions it really didn't smell good. I sat there wondering how many people could smell me and were probably even gagging a little. Then, I detected a faint whiff of stinky feet. Could that be me as well? Then I remembered that the shoes I had been wearing all day do sometimes make my feet sweat. I was now wearing sandals which left my stinky feet completely exposed. Now I was really wondering who could smell all my odors mixed together and started feeling a little embarrassed. I could feel myself start to perspire a little now, (another new odor!) and I tried to straighten my legs so my feet would be underneath the bench in front of me. When the meeting was over, my friend who was sitting next to me quickly got up and left, instead of the usual chit-chatting we would have normally done. I'm sure she had a headache by then and needed to get some fresh air. Crazy but true story.

Ok,Emily.
The only thing I can think of is to wear some ropes around your waist and when you stop somewhere just tie them to something so they will keep you in one place should the dasterly deed happen again. That way you might not bump into anything and damage it.
I hate to admit this but Mom had a bad headache today so we didnot attend our meetings.
May the good Lord have pity on our souls.
I want to read some blogs, get busy children.

Happy Friday!!
To anyone who may be on the blog today: Happy Friday!! I think it'll be a good day. Logan headed out early this morning to go prospecting once again for the weekend. I don't mean to sound glad to get rid of him, but it's good for all of us, especially him. After a few days of teenage selfishness and insensitivity, I need a break. So, Phillip and I are heading to the Temple later today. It's been so long since we've been able to go to the Temple together. That is if the wind doesn't blow us off the road on the way! Hope everyone has a good day also. Love you all!!

Bev tried to kill me again.
Yes it's true! Just look at the picture that Becky posted and you will see the beginning of the end. Bev planted a couple of shoes where she knew I wouldn't see them. Sure enough her cunning and calculated instincts served her well. Down I went--if it were not for my catlike reflexes I would have met my demise right then and there, but I just glued my head back together and am now just waiting for the epidural hematoma to set in and finish me. It's been nice being part of the family--I really hope there are no hard feelings. I apologize for any wrong doing, ill acts on my part, etc. Until we meet at the pleasing bar of God, Adieu. If I do by some miracle survive this life altering event I guess everything I just said doesn't mean squat. So in that case have a good day and watch where you walk and lower your life insurance to the point that others are not tempted to finish you earlier than God intended.

Okay Dad, I'm finally getting around to it. Here's the summary of our spring break trip. It was great!! Just girls in the car laughing and giggling. We got to Bev's house on Tuesday afternoon. Her house was beautiful as always, all decked out for spring. Quick trip to Rob's office and back to Bev's for a St. Patrick's Day dinner. Grilled steaks, green salad, bread with green butter, green jello with green grapes, cooked "cinnamon" potatoes and cabbage (inside joke). And green sherbet (minus the 2nd "r") another inside joke, with sprite.
Wednesday morning bright and early we tagged along with Bev to her excercise class she teaches. KICKED MY TALE!! It was seriously tough. I was extremely sore for the next three days. I couldn't bend or move without sighing in pain. Then home to shower and go to Boulder City for Antique shopping. What a cute little downtown. We had alot of fun looking at everything. Notice I didn't say buying, just looking. Then it was time to go back and get ready to go to Phantom of the Opera. Thank heavens Bev was driving. There was no way I would have been able to get us there and parked in the right casino. It was held at the Venetian which is a gorgeous casino!! We got out tickets and then walked around watching "street" performances and walking along the "canal" until time for the show. The Theater was Amazing and the show was Phenominal!!! Isabelle's face was almost as much fun to watch as the show itself. We had a great time. Then a ride down the strip, stop to pick up ice cream and back home.
Thursday morning was filled up with more dental appointments and errands and shopping. That night after yummy grilled Panini sandwiches and fresh fruit, we all went to the ice cream by the ounce and had yummy ice cream/frozen yogurt with all the toppings we could pile on. Then after we got home, some of us played Rummy until way late.
Friday was the day to find the prom dresses for Amanda and Indago. But first Bev and I went on a "speed walk" to get the toxins out my sore muscles. I was supposed to walk fast but just couldn't do it. Bev's in way more shape than I!! Off to shop. Our first stop was a modest dress shop with wedding, bridesmaid and prom dresses. Very nice store with very helpful staff. But there was no spark on the girls' faces no matter how many dresses they tried on. So we were heading to the mall and Bev stopped to look at the District first. White House/Black Market was the first store we went into there and that was the one. They found their dresses right away and were beaming. I wasn't beaming so much because of the price tag that accompanied the little dress that looked like it cost $3o to make. Oh well. Get over it. We ate lunch there outside and chatted with Jeffery, a nice man. Then Bev and I went into a WONDERFUL store that inspired me. If I could decorate my house with anything I wanted, it would be that store. So I took some pictures with my camera phone and hope to be able to somewhat duplicate some of what I saw someday. After shopping we went home and later grilled hamburgers and hotdogs , sat in the jacuzzi for awhile and then watched 'O Brother Where Art Thou" and laughed the whole way through. We watched it because Amanda had never seen it but halfway through the movie she was dozing off and she finally just got up and went to bed. Party Pooper!
Then Saturday was up and packing up our stuff and trying to clean up after ourselves. After a delicious breakfast cooked by Bev, we were on our way home and it was over. A BIG, BIG Thank You to Bev and Rob for letting us come and stay and for driving us around and cooking for us and entertaining us. It was a great spring break and we had a great time. Sorry you couldn't come this time Mom, you would have had a good time too. So I'm attaching some pictures. I wasn't as diligent with my camera as I could have been. But you get the gist.

Hey Children
Time is wasting. Surely someone can come up with something to put on this Blog. We all should take a page from Amanda Laurel and use a little bit of imagination. What are we, a bunch of dummies?
Went over to Von and Alice's house today for lunch. They invited family and friends for BEANS AND FRI-BREAD, to send Lamar Johnson's grand son on his mission to Colorado. Darvil and family were there. GOOD FOOD.
Mom and I enjoyed our little trip to the Colorado river with Davis and Malenia. All the way across the state to stay in a rv park. Had to listen to their sales pitch on byeing into their camping corporation. The Lady was very nice until we made it clear that we were not interested, then she changed into a nice witch. We did get three free nights though.
After we got there we discovered that the hot water heater in our trailer would not work. No hot water for three days. Bummer. There were showers available though.
Then we towed our mobil homes up through Lake Havasu and on into Laughlin. We parked our vehicles in the parking lot of a casino, and then rented a room to rest and relax. They have a little of our money, but not much. We then drove home the next day and said we did good.
Now that I have stood up, spoke up, now its time to shut up. So I will
Dad.

Hey Beekee
Glad to hear that you enjoyed the trip to God's country. Everyone said that they enjoyed seeing you and Beverly.
I ran into Von in thriftee mkt and he said again that he was glad you folks made the trip. He said that seeing you both interact with Sandy and Cinthia, plus Normans girls was one of the enjoyable moments of the party.
You know Becky I realize it is easier for a guy to get "away" from it all but it sure feels good "don't" it. In the past us guys have been able to just get into a pickup, grab a sandwhich, of course a Coke, and just dissapear for the day.We still do it on occasion but mostly take the four wheelers. I think a person should plan on a get away of somekind. Going for lunch with the girls, or boys, driving somewhere you haven't been for the day, or anything our minds can conjure up.
Mom and I certanly enjoyed everyone being to gether for a time. We talked about it for days afterwoods. {You know I do not think I am spelling some of the words right, but who cares.}
Beverly, we thank you and Rob for the effort of coming here.
And all you nieces and nephews out there, we are glad we got to see you. Maybe someone needs to take the bull by the horns and schedule the Hancock picknic again. Oh, Joann, there is something on your chin. WIPE IT OFF GIRL, WIPE IT OFF.
Now its someone else's turn to write something dumb, like I just did.
Grandpa.

Toothless Two
The tooth fairy has been busy at my house! Eli lost two teeth within two days of eachother - the first one was so loose it was about to fall out on its own when he finally let Rob pull it. It was so funny because he started whining while Rob was pulling it, then as soon as he saw the tooth he started laughing instantaneously. Then the next day the other one was so loose it fell out when someone's elbow bumped it! Boy, was he happy no one had to pull that one! Then Miranda (who says she wants to be a dentist someday) came in our bedroom the other night holding her tooth in her hand. She had pulled it herself and never even told us it was loose, so we were surprised. Not 5 minutes later she came back in holding two teeth in her hand! (This is the girl who was willing to go to Rob's office one time and get a numbing shot so he could extract her tooth that was barely loose but she couldn't wait!) Teeth, teeth, teeth!

Nobody Panic
I don't know what's going on with the calendar! Every time I log back in all the dates I entered are gone. GONE! But don't worry. It just needs some maintenance. About two or three hours of my time, which I don't have to give today. But it will be repaired in short order next week. First I'm taking a quick kidless trip down to Pima. YEA!! Nobody Panic.

Okay everybody, I guess its time.
Becky started it with telling us about pulling weeds with Isabelle. Mom got the itch and made me work in the back yard and build some grow boxes, lay down some walk ways and haul some sand and buy some store made dirt. We planted some vegetables and flowers and then applied some water to them.
Now its time for you.
I want to hear about Beverly and her brood getting out side and working in the yard. I mean, hoe ing, raking, pulling, pushing, and planting. warm weather is here so do not hesitate. I want to here all about it, so go people, go.
Becky,do not stop. Get the rest of your crowd, including Amanda Laurel, and get outside and make like it is enjoyable, make things grow. Impress the neighborhood. Make things happen.
Darvil, you should be the example of everyone. Dig in boy, turn the dog loose and start planting.
Take the cell phones from everyone and have a group pull, plant, and plop down for a rest. I will be checking on you.
Now get with it children, if Dad has to do it, so do you. You guys just don't have the whip cracking over you as I do.
I will be checking on you in short order.

THIS AND THAT
Dad is going to go the Hot Springs with Von early Wednesday morning to clean the pool to get ready for the anniversary party. He came over this morning and visited. He said the gates to the hot springs aren't open very often, so this is a chance not offered very much.
We had an interesting Church yesterday. The bishop's(Vaughn Grant) daughter and her husband blessed their new baby, a boy - their second. Then his daughter and his wife both bore their testimonies. Then some of the family members of Doug Grant, the bishop's brother, bore their testimonies. Three of Doug's sons, and then his wife, Hillary. You know Doug is on trial for the murder of his second wife, Faylene. The trial is due to end in about a week or so. All of their testimonies sounded so sad, and one of the boys, Breanna's age, cried all the way through. His wife, who usually looks like a Barbie doll, looked sad and haggard. You remember Doug and Hillary got married just a couple of weeks after Faylene drowned in the bathtub. I feel very sorry for the kids.
Then several of Fawn Bryce' family bore their testimonies, even Ross. We went to the funeral and it was nice and shorter than I expected. There were other testimonies too. Brian Upton, who now goes by Latney, his middle name after his Grandpa , bore a testimony of the ward. He was inactive for 10 years, he said. He married a Catholic girl when he got back from his mission - very early. His wife was big, but has lost a LOT of weight, died her hair dark, and just recently has joined the Church. She bore her testimony last month and is VERY happy and enthusiastic about being a member. Anyway, it was an interesting meeting yesterday.
Our area with the grow boxes is finished. We even planted vegetable seeds and some flowers today. It looks very nice. Dad did a good job. I hope things will grow now.
You're all caught up now. Let Dad & I know what is going on in your world. Love, Mom

What will they say???
Rob and I went to one of his patient's funerals the other day in a Methodist church. She was 85. I never met this woman, but by the time I left I felt as if I knew her. They read letters that people had written about her, people whose lives she had touched in some way. They also showed a video presentation of pictures of her throughout her life. Then they passed the microphone around and let people who wanted to stand and tell memories. This woman was involved in a lot of community organizations and worked for good causes. She also owned a dress shop in town and had a great sense of humor so a lot of people went to her dress shop to just visit and be around her because she made them laugh. She was always having card parties at her house and lots of people commented on how fun those were. She went on lots of trips with people and they had funny stories to tell about those. Not one person said what kind of housekeeper she was, or what size pants she wore, or whether her photos were all digitized and organized. They talked about how she made them FEEL. So it got me thinking... what will they say at my funeral? Maybe the trick is to live the kind of life you want them to remember when you're gone. Just a thought.
