Lulu's Family
The puppies are 4l/2 weeks old now, and they are getting fat, fluffy, and feisty. They are cute, and keep Lulu and me busy,-----but they also sleep a lot, and still nurse.

A WONDERFUL EVENING
It was so WONDERFUL, WONDERFUL,spending the evening with Johnny Mathis. There was just me----------and about 500 other people. He sang all of my favorite songs, and I especially loved hearing "Chances Are" and "The Twelfth of Never", which have always been my favorites. In my heart, I was 16 again. He is still thin, and looks good for 75. Like women kept calling out, "You've still got it Johnny". Thanks so much to our kids for finding out about this performance and for making this night possible. WONDERFUL, WONDERFUL-------An evening of romantic songs and memories!
Another note: We had to take Lulu to the Vet again this morning. She has Mastitis. One of her little boobs had become huge, swollen, red, and feverish. They kept her there for a few hours and got most of the swelling out. They said she produces more milk than her puppies drink, or that she allows them to drink. Motherhood has certainly been a trial for her. The puppies are cute, but no more after these.

A REQUEST FROM ALICE FORD
Alice called me this morning and wanted me to put some news on our blog. Remember little Christie, Carrie's girl, that used to come to our house when they lived in Pima? Well, as of this morning she is a Grandma. Her daughter Cheri, who is 19 years old, had an 8 lb. little girl. They are naming her Morgan Marie. So Carrie is a great Grandma and Alice is a Great Great Grandma. Alice said she should feel proud about that, but instead it just makes her feel tired.

DADS ADENDUM

My Perfect day
I wake up and walk out onto the back porch of my cabin that I built myself which over looks a small meadow in the White mountains just outside of Alpine. It is just starting to get light enough to see. I can see some fog hanging low to the ground and through the fog I can hear the Bull Elk are bugleing. As the fog lifts I see a small heard of Elk with lots of cows and big Bulls. The cool air is refreshing with the smell of pine trees.
Breakfast is waiting: It consists of Cheese Grits, sausage, toast with homemade raspberry jam, fruit slices and freshly squeezed OJ. What Diet.
Then it off to my secret stream for some stream fishing. I climb into my new ford truck and head out. The stream is a slow moving stream that is easy to cross. Catch and release fish until I am worn out.
Head back to my cabin for a short nap. Then drive into town and eat lunch at my favorite resturant where they serve the best green chili burros and a giant rootbeer.
Then I stop by the mail box and receive word that I have been drawn to go Moose hunting in Alaska.
Stop at my Chiro clinic and put in a few hours.
Go to the movie with my wife. Then homemade dinner of steak, potatoes, gravy, veggies and Ice cold water.
Later the kids show up for a visit. They stay a few hours and drive away in cars that they have bought with their own money. Did I mention I also won the 10 Million dollar lottery.
Maybe someday!!!!!!!!! One can dream, Alittle..........

Try This
I came across this recipe and thought it sounded good for those of us who like artichokes. If you double click on it, it will come up to a readable size. If you try it, let us all know what you think. It sounds like it is good for you with few calories or fat.

Colby is 15
Colby's birthday was yesterday. He's at that ripe old age of 15 now. I remember that cold, Omaha day he was born. The only one born C-section and has been doing things his own way ever since. He's smart, funny, a hard worker, and a good kid. HAPPY BIRTHDAY, COLBY!

THE perfect day
IN MY TRUCK, WITH DARVIL, TRAVELING INTO THE WILDERNESS JUST AS THE SUN COMES UP, RUNNING INTO SO MANY QUAIL WE RUN OUT OF SHELLS. SPENDING THE MORNING JUST TAKING IT ALL IN. HUNTING, LOOKING, TAKING PICTURES AND DRIVING INTO NEW TERRITORY.
BACK HOME BEFORE NOON AND GRABBING HOLD OF MOM AND GOING TO HER FAVORITE MEXICAN RESTURANT, THEN CHECKING OUT SOME ANTIQUE STORES FOR HER. GOING TO LOOK AT SOME OLD CARS OR TRUCKS THAT NEED RESTORING OR HAVE BEEN RESTORED.
OUT TO THE AIRPORT IN THE VERY EARLY EVENING WITH MOM IN TOW. CLIMBING INTO MY STEARMAN BI-PLANE AND STARTING THAT 450 HP ENGINE. MOVING TO THE ACTIVE RUNWAY, PUSHING THE THROTTLE UP AND LISTENING TO IT ROAR. LIFTING OFF INTO THE CALM EVENING AIR FOR A JOYFUL FLIGHT GOING NOWHERE. RETURNING TO THE AIRPORT AT SUNSET AND SETTLEING IN FOR A PERFECT LANDING, THE WHEELS KISSING THE PAVEMENT JUST AS THE SUN DISAPPEARS. CAN'T WIPE THE SMILE OFF FOR DAYS.
QUIGLEY DOWN UNDER, WHAT ELSE.
COTTAGE CHEESE AND RITZ CRACKERS
YOU'R ASKING THE WORLDS WORST ORGANIZER, SORRY.
I'V GRAVITATED TO THE FALL FOR SOME REASON. THIS FALL WAS SO NICE I JUST COULD'T STAND IT.
OKAY, EVERYONE HAS THE SAME ASPERATIONS. I WOULD LIKE TO LOOSE SOME 20 LBS, AND STARTING EATING RIGHT. FINISH MY OLD TRUCK WOULD BE A GREAT MILESTONE.
OKAY CHILDREN, THAT'S ABOUT IT. SYONORA.

LULU"S ORDEAL
Lulu got very, very sick early in the morning - 1:00- on January 3. We called our vet's emergency number, and took her up to the clinic for treatment. We were told the puppies had depleted her supply of blood calcium. She was shaking violently and breathing very hard. The vet gave her 2 IV bags and numerous shots, and took a blood test. The vet said if we hadn't taken her up, she would have been dead by morning. She felt better for a couple of days. Then, on the early hours of Jan. 6, we had to call and take her up again, for more of the same. Then we took her up Jan. 7 and 8th for IVs to build up her calcium reserve. I had no idea little doggy moms did this. Lulu is a very good mother, but motherhood is hard on her. We never know what trials we will face.

A FAVORITE DAY
I have been thinking about the question, and there is one favorite day I stored in my memory bank, quite a few years ago; kind of like on the hard drive of a computer. I realized then that this was a special day, and wanted to keep it always.
We were camping at Soldier Creek on Mt. Graham. We were able to camp in our favorite spot, the one with the BIG rocks. Sometime in the afternoon we all went for a walk down to the main road: me, Jerry, Darvil, Beverly, Becky, and Bob & Joy, and Red and Minnie. I told Joy that if I could freeze time, I would freeze that day.
I knew Darvil would soon be going on his mission, and the girls were headed for their own destinies. But that day was mine for the keeping. Everyone was so happy, Darvil and Red had a race down the road, ran in the tall grass on the side of the road, and the creek, flowers and grass were beautiful. I am glad I stored that memory away, because I bring it up quite often, and smile with joy and a few tears.

Becky's answers
My Goodness! What an assignment Bev has given us, is she a teacher, or what?! I was just going to comment on her post but decided it would be too long. So here goes:
My perfect day would be to go out to breakfast somewhere quaint, shop some thrift stores fortrash treasures. Eat the best Rueben sandwich I've ever eaten for lunch. Lounge on a white sandy beach in the early afternoon and listen to the waves. Play a round of board or card games with family later in the day. Have a delicious homemade mexican fiesta feast for dinner. Then snuggle on the couch and watch all my favorite old movies while a fire is crackling in the fireplace, and sleep all night without waking up once! Perfection!
My worst day probably involves phone calls from school officials or police officers or something, but let's not go there.
We rented Four Christmases the other night and I thought it was pretty darn funny.
I'm sorry I don't have a diet friendly recipe, but if you've got a good one Phillip would appreciate it if you would give it to me.
When I took down Christmas and before I started putting everything out again, I put it all on the dining room table to see what I have. I've been slowly putting it out a little at a time. It's been keeping me pretty organized, I can see how this would work for almost anything. Just get it out and put it all where you can see it and decide what you want and don't want.
Every season I'm in at the time seems to be my favorite.
My goals for 2010 are to read the BofM again, attend the Temple more, do alot of home projects, have more fun, exercise, plan an awesome family reunion!
So there you have it, teacher. Hope I get an A.

What do you think?
I'm curious, what would your perfect day be like? What would your worst day be like? What is your very favorite movie you've seen lately that I could rent on DVD? What is your favorite food that is diet-friendly? What is your best organization tip? What is your favorite season and why? What are your goals and aspirations for 2010?
These are just a few of the questions I have been thinking about. Why don't you all respond and let's see what everyone says.
Or not.
