LULU"S ORDEAL

Lulu got very, very sick early in the morning - 1:00- on January 3. We called our vet's emergency number, and took her up to the clinic for treatment. We were told the puppies had depleted her supply of blood calcium. She was shaking violently and breathing very hard. The vet gave her 2 IV bags and numerous shots, and took a blood test. The vet said if we hadn't taken her up, she would have been dead by morning. She felt better for a couple of days. Then, on the early hours of Jan. 6, we had to call and take her up again, for more of the same. Then we took her up Jan. 7 and 8th for IVs to build up her calcium reserve. I had no idea little doggy moms did this. Lulu is a very good mother, but motherhood is hard on her. We never know what trials we will face.
