Ok. Here's some news. I took Emily to the Dr. today. Miss sicky has an ear infection and tonsilitis (puss on her tonsils to be exact) they're sending a throat culture off to see if she has strep throat. But after a long miserable night for her, some ice cream, tomato soup and lots of rest today, she is feeling much better.
Logan has been invited by Gary Lines to go flying in the morning. It will be interesting to see how he likes it. Will keep you posted.
The Hubby and I went to see Harry Potter tonight. It was long. I had a hard time sitting still. But it was good. Already looking forward to the last one.
And Isabelle is in a constant state of boredom. She's resorted to using her imagination! Imagine that!
Tomorrow is the first day of August, the happiest month of the year.
Let's go school shopping. Bring it on!

Ode to Pima
Going to Pima with my Sis.
The 24th celebration we don't want to miss.
We'll be visiting with Mom and Dad
It'll be nice, we'll be glad.
We'll eat at El Charro and play a few cards
We'll watch the birds from "the nest" in their backyard.
The cousins will play from morning til night
With cousins instead of siblings, they won't want to fight.
We'll read magazines and lounge on the couch
We'll love just being in our old house.
Laughing and visiting and eating will be fun
Small town life.........here we come!

Only child
It seems like I have an only child. Emily has been out of town for almost a week and a half. Amanda is always either working, sleeping, or with friends. Logan is always either working, sleeping or with friends. That leaves Isabelle. Poor, little bored out of her mind Isabelle. We have played Harry Potter Scene It and Disney Scene It until my brain is scrambled. We have made paper dolls on the computer, made caramels on the stove (she burned her finger). Caught and took pictures of a three inch beetle on our patio (very gross). Organized a "hair do station" in her room. Went to magic shows at the library and checked out books that she doesn't read. Tended neutered Zero. Watched movies. Looked at baby books. Went to the cool pool with the slides and lazy river at the Rec Center. And I can tell you, I'm too old to be an eight year old girls best friend!! I need a nap.

I didn't fall off the face of the earth
I know you're all shocked to hear from me... it's been awhile and I don't even know why. I've been burned out or heat exhausted or really busy or just plain lazy. I'm not sure which or maybe it's all.
My two elementary kids are done with school for the Summer as of last Friday. It didn't take long for the fighting to begin with the older brothers who have been co-existing pretty peacefully since they got out of school 6 weeks ago. But Colby and Kason just left for scout camp until Saturday, so a brief reprieve for mom.
I don't remember being as bored as my 10 year-old daughter seems to be all the time, maybe Mom can remember. It's a real challenge to keep her content. Other than all that, Summer is going by quickly...too quickly. Before we know it we'll be school shopping, then starting school, then Halloween is right around the corner after that, then Christmas again. What is it with time going so fast the older you get? Which brings me to my Summer memories...
I remember Summer going S L O W . It seemed to go on forever. I started working with Trisha Morris each Summer at the Sugar Shack when I was 12, so I have lots of memories of that place, (frosting, packaging and labeling donuts, cookies and brownies; waiting on customers (we always loved it when a cute boy came in); and eating pretty much whatever I wanted - the buttermilk squares were so yummy!) I remember the softball games in the evenings at the stake ball park, and walking around talking to friends. It seemed like we had several get-togethers each Summer with Grandma and the Von Hancocks at Red Knolls, the mountain, or even someone's house and there was often the yummiest homemade ice cream. I remember the thunder storms, they always made the electricity go out, but it was like an adventure with candles and counting the seconds between thunder and lightening to figure out how far the storm was. Then the puddles the rain would bring seemed to always have frogs in the them. Jace and Darvil would catch tons.
I have one memory one Summer or maybe it was early fall going with us and Grandma up to Angle's Apple Orchard and picking the biggest, sweetest, best-smelling apples that Mom and Grandma then made into the best pies...
Of course, like Becky I remember the camping on the mountain, picking raspberries, and watching game shows on tv. That was one of our favorite pasttimes. We took turns spending the night with Grandma, and if we were lucky we got to eat a tv dinner.
Every Summer we took a wood-cutting trip to the mountain, ate lunch and made a day out of it, coming back with a huge truck-load of wood.
The highlight was if JoAn got to come spend a week at our house or me at her house. We made play houses and seemed to stay entertained continuously.
The church cabin was the ultimate. I wish every kid could grow up spending a week with their cousins somewhere like that.
I could go on and on with memories, but overall, they were happy carefree days and that's the way it should be.

Summer Memories
Okay, if we're going to talk about memories, I've got memories!
I had all of my knee surgeries during the summers, but those don't have a place here. These are happy memories only.
Camping on Mt Graham has to be the biggest Summer memory of all. It was fun to get everything ready, but alot of work too (mostly for Mom and Dad). It was so nice to slowly climb our way out of the heat and pick the perfect camp site. Playing games, eating, camp fires, snacking, visiting with whoever came up also. But then we had to go home and it was the worst to get back down to the heat and then have to unload. All we wanted to do was take a shower but Dad made us unload first.
I also loved thunderstorms and playing cards during a thunderstorm. I loved going to the pool to swim. I'd ride my bike there and swim for hours.
It was great fun when Kimberly came for a visit and we'd play barbies, office, dance contests, and house in the upstairs. It was dirty and grody but still fun. We had to use our imagination. Imagine that!
Going down to Mesa to do school shopping was a highlight. Staying with the Hancocks was the best! They were always doing fun things. We would always schedule our dentist appointments for then too. The miniature furniture in the waiting room was so cool, but the dentist kind of scared me. But getting that slip of paper for an ice cream cone at the drug store was worth it.
Watching game shows on TV during the summer was priceless, considering what's on TV now to watch. Good cards, Jim!
Fighting with Beverly over chores or anything else, tending baby kittens, visiting the Sugar Shack.
Ahh, Summertime as a kid. That's the life!

REMEMBERING SUMMERTIME
LIZARDBUMP
A little girl, youngest of the family, living on a farm with a haystack to make playhouses in, carrying all her dolls and some toys to the big barn. Too little to move the bales of hay, so playhouses were made as they stood. Playmates: Patsy, Joy, and Bessie Hill and nieces Earlene and Beth. A shed - or playhouse in the back yard to make another playhouse in. It even had an upstairs, reached by climbing a ladder. The little girl was always June Allison with her husband being Cary Grant or Jimmy Stewart. Little couches and chairs and some furniture, even if they were wooden crates. It was a little piece of heaven. There were mesquite trees to play under and hills to climb. What there wasn't ----- T.V., Cell Phones,Videos, I Pods, you get the idea. But there was oodles of imagination. We could be anyone we wanted, and we roamed wherever we wanted. Under the bridge down the road was another favorite, because it was cooler there. The heat didn't matter much, because there was no refrigeration or cooler in the house. People had to be tough, and just endure. Everyone sat outside in their yards at night, enjoying the night air and the stars. Hide and seek, kick the can, or just visiting were favorite activities. And often beds were moved outside, under a tree. Turkies, chickens, dogs and cats roamed the yard. And if we were lucky, once in a while, we went to the mountains for a picnic, and then to the Hot Springs when we came back down. These are the memories that live in the mind of that little girl who now has girls and little grandaughters of her own. I hope they have good memories of their summers.

Things of Summer
Hey Becky.
I tried to put a c omment on your blog but I don't think it went through. If it did then you get it twice.
The thing I like about summer is the fact that I am not COLD11111111. I think the things you put down are cool, but the swimming in the early morning hours, I don't think so. Going from a hot parking lot into a cool shoping center is another good thing. Coming back out to the hot c ar is another matter.
Keep the cool thoughts coming and how about the rest of the clan responding in some way.
Dad

Things of Summer
Aside from the blistering, boiling, melt your face off, constant sweat fest we're having right now, here are some things of summer I love:
Sweet cherries. flavorful cold watermelon. swimming in the morning just before the sun comes up. grilling. freshly cut grass. a cool movie theater on a hot hot day. swimming at night by candlelight. ice cream. patriotism. pioneer heritage. corn on the cob. family get togethers.
What do you like best about summer?

Personal Revelation :)
I'm taking a personal revelation class in institute with some VERY inspiring students and a teacher that really knows the scriptures. Thought I'd share 4 thoughts I had, as we could ALL use a little personal revelation. :)
D&C 8: 2-3: “Yea, behold, I will tell you in your mind and in your heart, by the Holy Ghost, which shall come upon you and which shall dwell in your heart. …Now, behold, this is the spirit of revelation; behold, this is the spirit by which Moses brought the children of Israel through the Red Sea on dry ground.”
If you’re not getting an answer, maybe it’s not the right QUESTION OR the right TIME to ask.
Sometimes the reason we feel like we receive so much inspiration in the temple is because you get time to be still and the spirit can speak to you, cuz after all the spirit whispers, not shouts. As normal ppl with busy lives, we get caught up in the day-to-day tasks and can be too busy to listen--too busy to pray and read our scriptures. If you're not taking the time to truly immerse youself in the scriptures and really communicate with our Father in Heaven, how will you be prepared for when the answers come? Take time to go to the temple to be still and receive what you need. :)

The spirit speaks thru the mind AND the heart. If they are divided, meaning your heart feels one thing but your mind says another, keep seeking for an answer that will bring them into unison, OR “shelf the question” meaning maybe it’s not time to ask that question right now but to be patient.
If you’re not getting an answer, maybe it’s not the right QUESTION OR the right TIME to ask.
God’s love being PERFECT= whole, complete. He loves unconditionally, He understands EVERYTHING about you. He knows EVERY thought, EVERY desire of your heart, and EVERYTHING you hate and love.
