A letter, please
Mother I have a request. It's completely safe to communicate about one of my children on this blog without them knowing because they never read the blog. I was asked by the ward camp director to have someone of signifigance besides her parents, write a letter to Emily to be given to her at camp. This letter should have spiritual thoughts and encouraging words of praise. I know you can handle that. If you could write that and mail it to me within the week, that would be great. That's all, except to tell you I changed the background again because I let Isabelle pick out the last background and I hated it.
Oh, you asked about Amanda. I saw her for less than twenty four hours after she got home from one trip until she left for the next one. She was tired, but seemed to have a good time. She managed to squeeze four hours of work in and a date with Scott before leaving for California. She texted me a little while ago after leaving Magic Mountain and said the rides made her a little sick and she was sickened to have to pay $12 for lunch inside the park. Sounds like someone is getting a dose of adulthood.

OUR UNFORGETTABLE WEEK, AND AWESOME GRADUATES
when we found what our schedule was going to be, I just hoped Jerry and I would be able to handle everything without falling apart into a frazzled mess. Last week we went to Tucson for two Dr. appts. for Jerry, then the next day we got up very early to go to Phoenix for Isabelle's play, which started at 9:15 am. We arrived in plenty of time and enjoyed her play immensely. Isabelle is such a performer. Then that evening we went to Amanda and Emily's concert at the high school. OH MY GOODNESS. What an evening. The music was amazing. Emily sang a solo part - beautiful! and then during Amanda's chorus Amanda stepped down from the bleachers and sang a solo. I should say an OPERA performance. It was amazing. She was amazing. So poised, confident, and she and her singing were BEAUTIFUL. Then to top it all off, she and Emily both received awards and gift cards. What a night.
The next week started with Jared's Baccalaureate on Sunday evening. Jared sang in the show choir. It was a nice evening with Dr. Lunt the keynote speaker. Then on Tuesday evening we went to Jared's concert. OH MY another surprising night. Jared was in almost all of the songs and performances. They did a part from LION KING - very good - and later Jared and his group dressed as old people and sang a song. There was a lot of variety and enthusiasm. My personal favorite was seeing the whole stage full of girls dressed in black outfits surrounding a huge grand piano. They sang a song called"I Love the Piano" and danced and walked around it. Guess who was playing the piano. Our own Mr. Jared. What a HAM. On Wednesday evening we attended Jared's Seminary Graduation. On the program they had lists of kids who had done certain thing. There was Jared's name for Memorizing a lot of scriptures. Then he led the Seminary Chorus in a song he had taught them himself. That boy is full of Surprises.
CC and her friend spent Wed. night here at our house. They were here for Pima's graduation. We had a nice visit with them. On Thursday, after they left, we traveled once again to Phoenix for Amanda's graduation. Once again - Amazement. Amanda looked so pretty and happy. The graduation was held at the Cardinal Stadium at University of Phoenix. An awesome place. Amanda was in the group that sang the National Anthem. We heard her, because she was the one that hit the VERY high note. Over 400 kids, but it moved quite fast. It took awhile, but we finally found Amanda outside, beaming, with her friend Scott by her side. So Cute.
On Friday, back to Pima, then to Thatcher for Jared and Jason's graduation. They were held in the HS gymn because of weather. Jason is such a handsome boy and got a certificate for academics. This handing out of certificates took a very short time, comparatively. There was a nice dinner between the two, then back to the gymn for Jared's Graduation. He too was in the group of kids that sang The National Anthem. How amazing is that? Then he played the piano for another song his classmates sang. Plus he, like Amanda, was listed on the program as being in the top 10%. Then the handing out of diplomas. Jared is so cute, tall, and handsome with his curly hair and big brown eyes. Plus, he got his braces off.
AMAZING, AMAZING, AMAZING is all I can say. Next year there will be more graduations, programs, plays, etc. and we hope we will be able to attend them all. Thats what proud grandparents do.

AMAZING THINGS DO HAPPEN....................
Yes it is me, the Darvil...It seems like I haven't been on here for so long, maybe cause I haven't.
Today is a busy day. Jason graduates from 8th grade tonight at 5 pm and then we will go to dinner with one of Jareds friends family and ours. Then Jared graduates from highschool at 8 pm. It is hard to imagine that Jared is graduating. He is only 17, turns 18 in june. He plans to atend EAC for a full year before his mission. He has done well in school and gets his time at EAC paid for. We went out to Indian Hot Springs yesterday and Jared invited alot, did I say alot of people. It was fun and the kids were great. They seemed to have fun. The water is starting to get more moss in it and the girls were eeeeoooing a little. Jason is fun and is growing. He will be the only Boren in highschool next year. Seems like we have 2 kids in HS forever. He said he wants to go to HS cause it is supposed to be funner. I told him he will be a freshman and get picked on alittle. I am writing this at the library. It has been raining or more like drizzleing all day. Sure makes it nice and cooled it off. Until next time!!!!! Darvil

HAPPY 17, BRADY!!
I can't believe my oldest child is 17 years old today. I can remember 17 years ago today with such detail that it doesn't seem like it could be that long ago. It has been a 17-year journey filled with good and bad, ups and downs, but we are proud of our son and the choices he is making now. He is becoming a positive influence and leader among his friends and peers. Life is always fun and playful when Brady's around. He's got a great sense of humor, that's for sure. He is fun, brave, strong, smart, and tries hard to do what is right. With all that going for him, I'm sure his life will continue to go in a good direction. I am anxious to see what the future holds as he grows into a man and follows his goals. Brady, we love you and wish you a Happy Birthday!
Big Improvement
After many years of a yucky, uncomfortable patio, I splurged and got some new patio furniture, ceiling fans, plants, and even a small wall fountain. Now it is relaxing and fun to sit outside. (mostly mornings and evenings when it's not too hot!)

ice cream soup
So Mom, you wanted to know how the homemade ice cream turned out? Well. it didn't. I'm beginning to believe it's me. The last few times I've tried making homemade ice cream, it has never turned out. I should have taste tested it as I put the sugar in. Wayyyyyyyyyyyyy too sweet. And it just never set up. ice cream soup. Emily made some scrumptious brownies chock full of nuts and ooey gooey chocolate. The ice cream was to top it off perfectly. I didn't want to admit defeat so we poured it on our brownies. Isabelle had a friend over. Amanda brought her "friend" over and Emily brought a friend home from the dance, all anticipating ice cream heaven. It was not to be. I'm letting the freezer do the rest of the work today so maybe there's still hope, except for the diabetes we're going to get from all the sugar! We'll worry about that later.

WHAT HAPPENED
How did an imperfect person, such as I, receive such beautiful, talented, loving, caring, etc. children, in-laws, and grandchildren? My beautiful daughters sent such beautiful gifts, all wrapped up so pretty, that I almost hated to open them - almost. But such wonderful things inside. Thank you, thank you. I love everything. You two have me pegged, you know all the things I love. Thank you again. We had a nice Church. Bradley Poindexter was the youth speaker. He told the young people to love their mothers, tell them they love them, and they won't get grounded as much. Everyone laughed. Kip Bingham was the main speaker. He gave a nice Mother's Day talk, which made everyone cry. And of course the Primary Children sang. I wish I could hear my Grandchildren on Mothers Day, but these kids were cute. I just wanted to tell you all that I love you, miss you, and I also miss my mother. She was the best mother ever. It still amazes me to think of all the things she used to do. Love to all, Mom

Mom and Dad
I am in no way endorsing or promoting this information. I'm merely passing it on as requested. May is a busy month for sure. Three grandkids graduating. Mothers Day. Birthdays. And school performances. We have two upcoming performances in our family and they happen to fall on the same day. Isabelle's class is putting on a production called "BUGZ". According to the invitation: "every student has a speaking line or a dance part and all will sing!" She plays the part of an Army Ant. It was not her first choice by a long shot. She was hoping and praying for the part of House Fly so she could wear pajamas, robe and hair in curlers. But she gets to wear camouflage and a helmet instead. This is to be presented on Thursday May 14, at 9:15 am. She is very excited.
Amanda is the next starring performer. She came home the other day ecstatic and elated with joy for landing the solo she has been coveting. Her teacher hand picked her for the part but made her try out with a couple of other girls just for the heck of it. It's the song her choir teacher sang a solo when she was in college. Here are Amanda's words: "If ever there was a concert for the Grandparents to come to, this is the one!" I explained to her that she would be graduating a week later and that is a little inconvenient for people to come back and forth like that. But she insisted. This concert which Emily is also in is Thursday May 14, at 7pm.
So there you have it. You can do whatever you want with it. No one will cry if you don't come.

Except for Zero is he missed a chance to see Lulu.

LeNell
The funniest thing! I went to lunch today with the Relief Society sisters in my ward at Macayo's. We didn't realize until we were there that today is Cinco de Mayo and we were eating lunch at a mexican restaurant. Busy, busy, crowded, crowded. But we eventually got seated and got our food and ate. I walked out to go to my car and saw a man sitting outside with a few other men waiting to be seated. I recognized him immediately! It's Bruce Heywood!! And sitting next to Bruce is his son Jake who just got home from a mission! (Good thing for the blogs so I can know all this stuff) I went right up to them and he looked at me and said "Bev?" It's understandable since we do look alot alike. I haven't seen Bruce in a long time. It's okay he didn't remember my name. We chatted for a few minutes and I was on my way. What are the odds that in a city of this size I would run into Bruce who doesn't even live in this State??!! By the way LeNell, he extended an invitation if we're ever in Utah for Conference we can totally stay at your house!! Yay!!
Okay, enough already.

I NEVER thought I'd be saying this in a million bazillion years, but I'm ready for school to be out. I know, I know, what am I saying? I must not be feeling well today, right? No, I'm feeling fine. Just tired. Tired of getting up at 5am to make breakfast for the early risers in my house, and wake up Logan who doesn't seem to be capable of getting himself up. Ever. Then turn around and pack lunches for my high school girls who don't want to buy their lunch. Then after the husband and kids have made their exit at 5:45, I make my way back to my cozy bed and eventually fall back into a sound slumber, only to be jolted back to reality when the clock says 7:15. Time to wake Isabelle up and start all over again. Make breakfast, pack lunch, do hair, get her on the bus at 8:10. Yes, It's all worth it when they've all gone their ways and the house is quiet and all to myself to clean up the wreckage from the night before. But now that I am Logan's personal driver to his job at the Theater, which last night's shift went until midnight. I'm kind of tired. I'm actually looking forward to days of sleeping in as long as my kids. I've heard Moms say they're ready for school to be out in the past, and I used to look at them like they had three heads. What could they be thinking? School is a gift from the heavens. But so is sleep. Sound, uninterrupted sleep. Make no mistake about it though. Come August, I'll be doing the happy dance on the first day of school. I may be tired, but I'm no fool! I'm a little foolish to put this picture of myself on here though.

Super Shoes

Just thought you'd all like to see what the best shoes in the world looked like. These were my lifesaver at Disneyland. I've never owned a more comfortable pair of shoes in my life. I purchased them at Sam's club for $19.00. They weigh ounces, don't slip off, don't rub or hurt anywhere. They also come in brown and black. I just might pick me up another pair. Heaven for the feet. That's all.
