Easter Girls

This is for Grandma.  Because Grandmas like to see girls dressed up in Easter outfits, right?  I went shopping for dresses for Isabelle one day while she was at school.  I wanted to surprise her.  I came home with three clearance dresses, two from TJ Maxx and one from Ross. The most expensive one was $12 and that's the one she ended up not liking.  So I took it back to the store and bought the little white sweater cardigan.  We decided to keep the two dresses since together they were the price of one regular dress.

This one is her favorite and the one she wanted to wear on Easter.  It was only $8.99!!  She loves how it gets darker at the bottom.

Emily is not wearing anything new.  I quit shopping for her a long time ago.  Picky, picky, picky.  And she's never home to go shopping with me.  But I did let her wear my cardigan and pearls.  I wish someone would have taken a picture of me, I looked pretty too!
When I die and people are looking through our family pictures, they're going to think this family didn't have a mother!

BEAUTY

Here I am, trying to post again. Last time, I couldn't get pictures to go on the blog. Now, they are on twice. Just consider the source (me). The name I drew sounds like I planned to work it this way - but I didn't. When Darvil was a little boy, I liked to go shopping with Mom to the few stores we had in Safford then. I guess Darvil didn't like to shop very well. One time he picked up a naked mannequin from under the counter and threw it outside on the sidewalk. He was 2 or 3 years old then. Another time, he pushed at a high rate of speed some roller skates that came zooming down the aisle. I never knew what to expect. And then.......I had a little girl. A grown-up acting baby girl. From the time she could sit up in the cart, she looked around and had the expression that she loved everything she saw, and was always very good. I knew she was a good shopping companion at an early age. One of my friends called her "Miss Priss" because she was so grown-up acting. She talked in sentences at a very young age, grew a headful of long hair that she let me put in sponge rollers, and was a fun and independent little female. We lived in Willcox when she started school with the afternoon kindergarten schedule, which worked out well because she liked to stay up late with me and sleep late in the morning -- a regular night owl. She was always so good and well-behaved, and a good sister to Darvil and Becky. One time Becky crawled in my lap and whispered in my ear, "I like Beverly better than you". Like her big brother, she was also Seminary President and Homecoming Queen. She graduated from E.A., and all too soon - left Pima behind to attent ASU, where she graduated with an Education degree - then she was off on a mission to the Dominican Republic. After that, she was off to Utah to teach school, and become engaged, and she was all grown up. And now, the busy, loving mother of 5 very active kids, Relief Society President, wife and homemaker who still finds time to cook delicious meals, decorate and re-model her beautiful home, attend games and be a chauffer -- in other words, she's like most mormon women today -- very busy. I have always admired Beverly for not being afraid to try things (like remodeling) and being very capable. She can usually do whatever she tries very well. She's strong and determined in the world of doing and living a righteous life - and always ready to offer a helping hand. I am very proud of this beautiful daughter of ours.

The Tax Man Cometh

Do you trust your tax man? Today is April 15th. Tax Day. I guess a better question is "Should you trust your tax man?" We have been working our taxes the last few days. Our tax guy called and said they were done and ready to be picked up. With Jared on a mission and us making larger church contributions and the credit we should get for Breanna being in School, I figured our refund should increase. Not the case. So before sending everything in I looked it over. I even thought of paying someone else doing my taxes again. I found a huge mistake. So I called the tax guy up. He fixed it and increased my refund by $3000.00. That's not a few hundred dollars but a few thousand dollars of a mistake!! Then when I picked up the corrected paperwork he forgot to sign the tax forms and I had to go back again. I am sure he was glad to see me go away. What if I hadn't questioned his work. Do you trust YOUR tax man?

Stinky

Holy Body Odor!!!!!!!!!!!!! I just worked on a old man. He really stunk, stank, stinks. Yes I tried breathing through my mouth. Now my mouth stinks. Thank goodness for air freshenor. When I get old, somebody needs to call me every day and ask me if I took a shower and put on deodorant. Holy Bad Aroma. Darvil

wildlife

I have a little bunny rabbit that visits my yard every day.  He hops in quietly and blends in so well with the rocks, it's hard to see him until he moves.  He's cute.  And luckily I don't have a vegetable garden or else I might not like him so well.  I also have little quail couples that trot in to eat whatever they can find in my yard.  I'm looking forward to seeing their babies soon.   This morning there was a Mr. quail on my windowsill.  I thought it was Darvil for a second.  There is a mockingbird that wakes me up in the morning with his singing.  It used to bug me, but now I enjoy it.  He also sings a lovely song just before the sun goes down.  I'm so happy not to find snake or scorpion visitors around the house or yard.  Just the cutle little critters.  Isn't wildlife wonderful?

2011

I heard this on the radio this morning.   Maybe all of you already knew this, but 2011 is a special year.  If you take the last two digits of your birth year and add it to your age you will be turning in 2011, you will get 111.  Everyone will get the same answer no matter what their birth year or age is.  This won't happen again for 800 years or something like that.  Try it.  It works!

No Luck

I am having no luck posting pictures to go with my spotlight. Picassa keeps changing. If I have no luck, use your imagination.

I Hear Ya

I know its been a while since my last spotlight. Just to change the subject a little, I have been thinking a little about one of my aunts lately. She had a lot of diziness throughout her life, off and on, and she really liked to crochet, so......she told me once that she would crochet with her eyes closed so she wouldn't get dizzy. Well, since I can't blog with my eyes closed, I have just been thinking about the spotlight. After being chastized, I went into my craft room and pulled a name out of the bowl. No, I don't peek or pick and choose. The name I drew out was the name of my firstborn child and only son. I always thought I would probably have a girl first, but Jerry insisted it would be a boy. I felt very scared and inadequate to be a mother, especially of a little boy, but when I looked at him, I thought he was the cutest baby I had ever seen. He had huge black eyes that soon turned to brown, and fat, fat cheeks. When I would push him in a shopping cart in a store, people would stop me and want to look at him because he was so fat and cute. He was a very energetic little boy -- tons and tons of energy. Since there was no kindergarten in Pima then, he didn't school as young as kids do now. Some days I would be tied to the ironing board - I didn't have a dryer and had to iron everything. I would keep Darvil busy by timing him when he worked puzzles - he loved those - and time him when he rode around the block on his bike. He was always happy when he improved his score. Darvil didn't get a sister until he was almost 4, and although he liked to tease and pester Beverly and Becky, he always set a good example for them, and I was always grateful for that. He followed any rules we set down - especially letting me know where he was as a teenager - even tho cell phones hadn't been invented yet. He was Seminary Pres. his Jr. and Sr. years, and homecoming king to name a few. He was nice and respectful to girls and other people. He hung out with his dog Red a lot, because he didn't like some of the things the boys his age were doing. He served a mission, got a good education, married a cute mormon girl, later built his own house, and had a nice family with 4 beautiful children. He has always loved to play board games and other games, and loves to go hunting with his Dad and his kids. What more could a mother ask for in a son? On the downside, he does let some stinky poops once in a while.

Bueller?

Where is everyone these days??  I realize I post on my own blog more than here, but what about the rest of you?  Where's Dad's posts that we all know and love?  What happened to the spotlight?  Where's Bev's cleaning tips, recipes, and words of wisdom?  Darv is doing good.  No chastising for him.

Hello?

Anyone there?

Spring Break

Spring break this year was spent at the "Wildlife Zoo and Aquarium" & the "Arizona Science Center". We also went to the "Body Worlds Exhibit". We had fun. The Body Worlds was interesting to me. I'm not sure how everyone else liked it. We did alot of hands on projects at the Science Center. They were fun and interesting. The Wildlife Zoo was also fun. Probably the best part was the bird cage we went into and were able to feed the birds. They landed on our hands or arm and ate a small piece of apple out of our hands. That was cool. We also fed giraffes. Their tongues are so long. We also were able to pet sting rays in the aquarium. We had a fun weekend. Made grilled chicken and 2 kinds of homemade salsa at Shaleice and Dustins place. Darvil
